Director of Strategic Campaigns- Advancement and External Engagement

The Director of Strategic Campaigns will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing comprehensive and fundraising campaigns to support the University’s strategic initiatives and priorities. This position involves strategic planning, relationship building, and stewardship with both internal and external constituents. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the strategic goals for the University and will be responsible for planning, developing and executing strategic fundraising campaigns aligned with Hampton University.
  • Routinely identifies, cultivates, and stewards prospects for major gifts and scholarship support.
  • Develops and implements strategies to engage and cultivate donors, alumni, corporations, foundations, and other potential funding sources.
  • Engages with the University through exceptional customer service, and meaningful opportunities for volunteerism, personal and professional development, events, and programs.
  • Works in partnership with other University divisions and departments, that further develop compelling fundraising materials, including proposals, presentations, and donor communications for the development of fundraising campaigns.
  • Stays abreast of best practices, trends, and innovations in fundraising and philanthropy, applying relevant strategies to enhance campaign effectiveness.
  • Reports to and supports the initiatives of the Assistant Vice President for Major Gifts and Organizational Philanthropy as well as the Vice President for Advancement and External Engagement for all other departmental and divisional efforts.
  • Assists at donor-related events, often on weeknights or weekends, and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred and a preferred minimum four [4] years of related work in an educational or non-profit setting.
  • Solid experience in computer and information technology or database management.

  • Ability to work independently; excellent attention to detail required.
  • Willingness to travel required.
  • Some evening and weekend work required.
