Director of Nursing Non-Traditional Programs

Under administrative supervision of the Department Chairperson.to plan, supervise, organize, evaluate, coordinate, and manage assigned educational program. Plans and coordinates the day to day administrative, fiscal, and operational activities of a given program.  Develops, directs, and coordinates the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the nontraditional undergraduate nursing programs (LPN to RN, RN-BSN, etc). Determines a business plan and budget, implements new policies and procedures and establishing departmental goals.

Job Duties:

  • Develop long range educational program plans
  • Design curriculum that provides the core competencies necessary for the degree of BHS
  • Measure student achievement of desired outcomes and promote effective teaching methods
  • Plan the scheduling of events and delivery of services to achieve program goals
  • Collect data/ perform surveys on areas of program activities for evaluation of program effectiveness
  • Liaison with educational, community, healthcare, community, and affiliate institutions and agencies to develop program linkages, support and referral systems
  • Develop policies and procedures for implementation as applicable to program
  • Develop design, write and edit marketing materials and reports and other educational materials for publication and distribution
  • Lead the program in setting long and short term goals in establishing and executing assessment efforts and using assessment data to promote continuous program improvement
  • Supervise, orient, evaluate, and determine priorities for personnel assigned to program 
  • Promote the attainment of school, program and University goals
  • Respond to and resolve problems of program participants through academic counseling
  • Collect data on program and required reports
  • Maintain necessary record/files
  • Recruitment of faculty and students
  • Perform related duties as assigned by Chairperson and/or Dean

Qualifications:  
Earned Doctorate Degree
Masters in Nursing
Requirements: 

RN/APRN Licensure in Virginia

Teaching, Research, Grantsmanship and other scholarly activities
