The University is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to join our Business Operations department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all payroll functions and ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all payroll related tasks.
Job Duties:
- Manage the preparation, distribution, and reporting processes for payroll.
- Oversee compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements.
- Compile data from a wide variety of sources (e.g., time and attendance reports, salary adjustments, etc.) for the purpose of analyzing issues, ensuring compliance with organization policies and applicable legal requirements, and/or monitoring program components.
- Manage periodic auditing of payroll records.
- Coordinate activities with Human Resources Department to ensure accurate benefits deductions and record keeping.
- Supervise payroll staff including hiring, performance management, training, career development.
- Stay current with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing legislation; enforce adherence to requirements; advise management on needed actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in managing multiple payroll cycles, grants, higher education related
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
- Hands-on experience with HRIS or payroll systems (Ceridian, Banner, etc.)
- Proficient with MS Office (especially Excel)
- Strong leadership skills; prior supervisory experience required
