The Department of Sports Science and Wellness at Hampton University, which houses the BS in Kinesiology, and BS in Sport Management, is seeking to fill a faculty position at the Assistant professor level beginning August 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence as a classroom teacher and program advisor and show ability to integrate technology tools in teaching and student engagement.  Teaching responsibilities include but are not limited to undergraduate courses such as health education, athletic injury prevention and treatment, motor learning, nutrition, and sport management related courses including facility management and sport law. Additional responsibilities include intern supervision, student advisement, research, recruiting, committee work and service to the university, discipline, and community.  The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the department’s scholarly advancement through a productive research agenda including grantsmanship.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have an earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a related field from an accredited university. Experience in and evidence of quality teaching in a university setting is preferred.  Practical professional experience in athletic training or sport medicine.  Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in research and grantsmanship.  Rank and compensation are commensurate with credentials and experience.
