The Hampton University Pre-law Institute (HUPLI), housed within The School of Liberal Arts and Education (SLAE), is searching for a Senior Research Fellow with a strong background and interest in legal education research and educational assessment research to work closely with the Director of the Hampton University Pre-Law Institute on the execution of a privately funded research project. The Senior Research Fellow will support and advance a grant-funded research project working closely with the HUPLI Director. This role involves conceptualizing a large-scale research study, establishing research goals, designing and executing a research study, managing data processing and analysis, and implementing research methodologies to address public policy issues. The Senior Research Fellow will be responsible for upholding rigorous research standards, conducting literature reviews, contributing to grant proposal development, and drafting research papers and presentations for conferences. This position requires strong research skills, with duties carried out in alignment with the strategic goals of the institute.
Job Duties:
- Conducting Legal Education and Educational Assessment Research working with the project team to conduct research and data collection for all research needs.
- Reach out to populations of interest to conduct interviews and data collection.
- Analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.
- Report writing.
- Creation of data reports client and constituents.
- Work collaboratively with HUPLI staff to advance the mission of HUPLI.
- Keep current on trends and appropriate theories of change, methods reaching communities of interest, publications, and initiatives.
- Project Management:
- Represent HUPLI at meetings when appropriate.
- Supervise students on the project.
- Represent HUPLI at external events to promote the HUPLI mission.
- Review and work on all HUPLI-related project proposals as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral Degree and a demonstrated record of research experience in educational measurement and assessment.
- Experience with grant writing, securing funding, and managing research budgets.
- Educational assessment research experience that prioritizes examinees who traditionally underperform.
- Awareness of best practices in social science research, public policy and working with underserved communities.
- Advanced methodological skills including proficiency in new or emerging research techniques.
