The Deputy Director of Athletics / Senior Woman Administrator is a member of the athletics leadership team with the primary responsibility of day-to-day management of the department’s compliance program, athletic training, strength and conditioning, student services, sport management, and implementing processes in education, monitoring, and enforcement, to ensure alignment with all athletic department and institutional policies and procedures.

This position will also serve as the primary liaison to key institutional departments (admission, financial aid services, academic affairs/student success) to oversee team roster and eligibility information, as well as to plan and lead academic support platforms for student-athletes in conjunction with the Faculty Athletic Representative. This role will work with student-athletes regularly to connect needs with campus resources to assist in academic goal attainment and will oversee the department’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Assist with the completion of the NCAA and CAA reports, the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act Report, and the Gender Equity Plan, and assist in the development and implementation of the athletic strategic plan to support and manage diversity, gender equity, and Title IX issues.

Represent the University at national association and conference meetings, the department as part of institutional committees or internal events, and in other forums as needed. Lead and manage other duties as assigned.

Job Duties:

  • Oversight and management of the following areas of the athletic department:
    • Athletic Compliance Office
      • Oversee departmental compliance with NCAA, CAA, and other conference affiliates to comply with policies and procedures that are put forth.
      • Coordinate and create compliance rules education sessions with the athletics department staff related to University personnel, booster organizations, student-athletes, managers, and coaches.
      • Assist in all student-athletes eligibility, including initial, continuing, and transfer eligibility status. In addition to eligibility, this position will also oversee all eligibility waivers.
      • Assist in filing waivers, violations, and interpretation requests as necessary.
      • Monitor day-to-day compliance activities of the compliance office, including but not limited to playing and practice season reports, official and unofficial visits, off-campus recruiting, camps and clinics, and other duties as assigned to the compliance office.
      • Oversee the National Letter of Intent Program for student-athletes.
    • Student Services
      • Monitor assigned student-athletes academic performance, including class schedules of assigned student-athletes, and help to resolve any problems or conflicts while electronically documenting; monitor study hall requirements; contribute data for mid-semester grade reports; engage in regular contact with the faculty of student-athletes and members of the Student Success Collaborative.
      • Assist with NCAA, CAA, and University-wide academic award and recognition nominations for student-athletes as assigned
      • Proactively respond to student, parent, faculty, and coach inquiries. Regularly communicate with student-athletes regarding events and deadlines throughout the academic year and disseminate information to new and continuing students throughout the academic year.
      • Coordinate and proctor make-up exams (at the direction of faculty).
    • Athletic Training
      • Monitor and provide administrative assistance to the athletic training department.
    • Strength and Conditioning Program
      • Monitor and provide administrative assistance to the strength and conditioning department.
  • Collaborate with the Faculty Athletics Representative at multiple levels (i.e., Conference, Provost, College, and School).
  • Serve as liaison to the NCAA office, CAA, and other on-campus entities such as admissions, financial aid, and residential life.
  • Serve as sport administrator for programs as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of the NCAA Division I Compliance Manual
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, with 10+ years preferred.
