This full-time role offers a unique opportunity to serve a diverse campus population by delivering high-quality, patient-centered care for acute illnesses and minor health concerns.
This is a grant-funded position. Continuation of the position is contingent upon the continuation of related grant funding.
Job Duties:
- Provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for acute illnesses, injuries, and episodic health issues to university students, faculty, and staff.
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage common medical conditions within the scope of practice.
- Utilize a holistic; patient-centered approach to care that includes education, prevention, and wellness strategies.
- Prescribe medications and therapies consistent with state and federal guidelines.
- Maintain accurate, confidential electronic medical records in compliance with HIPAA and institutional policies.
- Collaborate with the Wellness Center team including physicians, counselors, and other health professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in campus-wide health initiatives, wellness programs, and student engagement events.
- Uphold the values of Hampton University and contribute to an inclusive, supportive care environment.

Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Licensure:
- Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Autonomous Practice Designation approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing (required).
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of clinical practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner, with demonstrated expertise in managing acute and primary care needs.
- Certifications: Current certification as an FNP through AANP or ANCC; BLS/CPR certification required.
