Lab Manager- Pharmacy

Hampton University Staff

The successful applicant must possess knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, provide technical support to faculty members and students as well as be expected to utilize managerial skills to maintain inventories and research or classroom laboratory equipment. The successful candidate is expected to serve on school committees in compliance with the duties and responsibilities associated with being a Hampton University staff member.

Job Duties:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepping classroom laboratories for instruction
  • Maintaining laboratory inventories
  • Maintaining equipment logs
  • Scheduling classroom and research equipment maintenance
  • Ordering supplies, reagents and equipment
  • Providing basic laboratory training
  • Implementing laboratory safety protocols
  • Reporting laboratory related injuries or incidents

Qualifications:  

  • High School Diploma (college degree is preferred)
  • Willingness to work in a diverse academic environment
  • Ability to use computers, Microsoft Office software and to create spreadsheets  
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • English proficiency, good communication and well-developed interpersonal skills
  • knowledge of laboratory regulations, standards, and safety protocols
  • Organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty, students and staff members
  • Ability to stand for periods of time and to move light equipment

Requirements:

  • Two years of laboratory experience
  • Pharmacy technical experience
