The Hampton University School of Nursing is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the 12-month faculty position in the Department of Graduate Nursing Education.
Founded in 1868, Hampton University is a leading historically Black university located in the beautiful Tidewater area of Hampton, Virginia. The School of Nursing offers master of science degree programs in the roles of nurse educator, administrator, and practitioner and has the oldest continuous baccalaureate nursing program in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Specialties are offered in women’s health, pediatrics, family health, community health nursing, advanced adult nursing, community mental health/psychiatric nursing, and gerontological nursing. There are distance education options for master of science students who seek to become pediatric nurse practitioners and doctoral students whose interests focus on family and family-related research.
The master of science and doctor of philosophy programs are the first to be offered at a historically Black college or university (HBCU). Furthermore, the graduate program is nationally accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Job Duties:
- Teaching, conducting research, and engaging in community service
- Faculty must advise and assign selected student advisees; participate in recruitment and retention activities
- Keep accurate academic/student records; prepare and/or maintain current course syllabi and outlines
- Develop course expectations; and sustain expertise in specialty areas in teaching, clinical practice, and professional development
- Other duties assigned by the Dean
Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate
- Master’s in nursing
Requirements:
RN/APRN Licensure in Virginia
Teaching, Research, Grantsmanship and other scholarly activities
