
WRC NBC 4/ WZDC Telemundo 44 Planning Manage
Melinda (Woolbright) Coleau is the Planning Manager at WRC NBC 4 / WZDC Telemundo 44 in Washington, D.C., where she is dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalized communities and ensuring their stories are heard and accurately represented across the region. In her role, she oversees the strategic planning of day-to-day news coverage, future assignments, special projects, and events. Her contributions have been instrumental in award-winning coverage, including the Papal visit to the United States, the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Capitals’ Stanley Cup victory, comprehensive reporting on critical topics such as inequality, pandemic coverage, Presidential Elections and Inaugurations, and the “Changing Climate” series, which examines the social, economic, and environmental impacts of climate change.
In addition to her editorial responsibilities, Melinda serves as the Production Assistant Supervisor, playing a key role in staff recruitment, mentoring early-career professionals, and supporting their growth within the organization. She is a passionate advocate for representation within the media industry, championing initiatives aimed at recruiting and retaining young talent while developing future leaders in journalism.
Outside of her professional work, Melinda serves as the board treasurer for UJIMA, Inc.: The National Center on Violence Against Women in the Black Community. In this capacity, she works to mobilize municipalities to combat domestic, sexual, and societal violence, with a focus on creating a world where Black women and girls can live free from violence.
Originally from Southwest Florida, Melinda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Media Communication from The Florida State University (Go Noles!) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Outside of her career, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, visiting museums, and following her passion for sports.
