All Hampton Faculty and Staff VPN users are now required to enroll in 2-Step Login (provided by Duo Security) by April 1, 2022, to continue remote access InfoTech protected resources (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Banner/SIS, Network Directories, etc.).

Colleagues…Cyber criminals are becoming increasingly skilled at targeting our staff and faculty through advanced technology, including sophisticated phishing scams, malicious software, and password hijacking. These actions often result in compromising our financial and data assets. We are making 2-Step login using DUO immediately available and required for all VPN users to protect our campus. Soon, the requirement to authenticate will be extended to and required for all faculty, staff, and students.

Multifactor authentication (MFA) is not a new concept as it provides an additional layer of security. By requiring two types of authentication to verify identity during login, we are making our network (more) secure. After entering your InfoTech name and password, you will be prompted with finishing logging in as follows:

  • approve a “push” notification from the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone,
  • answer a phone call,
  • enter a passcode generated by Duo or sent via text message, or
  • enter a previously generated Duo bypass code.

Mr. Robbie Harper, Network Manager, will generate the DUO activations.
