How to Refer a Student
If you have a concern about the mental health of a student, please submit the Student Referral Form found at the bottom of this page. This form will be sent to the Student Counseling Center and will prompt a member of the SCC to contact the student. Please be as detailed as possible in your submission as this will help the Student Counseling Center staff when they make the outreach attempt. For an immediate crisis situation, please call 911 or HUPD at 757-727-5666.

What Happens Next
Once you have submitted the Student Referral Form, a member of the Student Counseling Center will reach out to the student to discuss the current circumstances and next steps. The member of the Student Counseling Center will help the student schedule an appointment with a therapist if they are willing to engage in treatment. If it is an emergency situation, please call 911 or HUPD at 757-727-5666 to ensure immediate action is taken.
