Outreach Services

The SCC believes that education about wellness strategies can help promote academic success.  Several virtual outreach events have been planned, including workshops and seminars for first year students, depression screening events, and intentional dissemination of wellness educational materials (e.g., Suicide prevention materials). The overarching goal is to increase awareness of mental health services while promoting a culture of primary prevention. Any faculty, staff, or student who request outreach services must do so by completing the form below.

Counseling is a collaborative relationship between one of the Hampton University students and mental health clinicians.  Counseling involves making positive changes, learning or reigniting coping skills, and exploring relationship patterns, and in some instances dealing with past traumas.  Individual therapy does not include just “venting,” but rather is a therapeutic relationship in which students work with their Therapist to explore their emotions, cognitions, and behaviors in an effort to become the best versions of themselves.

Group Counseling

Group counseling services are a way to assist students in connecting with their peers, normalizing current challenges, adjust to life transitions, and develop healthy coping skills. Some of the frequently offered groups include mindfulness, coping with trauma, dealing with anxiety, coping with depression, Men’s mental health, and dealing with life transitions.
