Specialty Services

Our Specialty Services are designed to provide focused support for specific communities and experiences within our student body. Whether you’re an athlete balancing performance and mental health, a member of the LGBTQIA+ community seeking affirming care, or someone exploring the connection between mind and body, we’re here to walk alongside you.

Athletics and Band Wellness

The Hampton University Student Counseling Center includes a specialization that closes the gap between the stigma of athletes and mental wellness, and also therapeutically supporting students who are a part of the Marching Force Band. Clinical services include but are not limited to individual and group/team sessions exploring topics surrounding performance anxiety, injury, managing pressure, academics, relationships, post sport life, and ways to cope with such.

Mind and Body Connection

The Mind Body Connection at the Student Counseling Center (SCC) of Hampton University is a space that bridges the gap between the physical and mental emotions. It acknowledges and supports the mental health aspects that come along with: health diagnoses, surgeries, injuries, and disabilities. This realm of therapy also explores factors that impact both the mind and the body, what happens as a result, who it affects, why it matters, and ways in which to cope and discuss.
