The University is modernizing its campus-wide communication infrastructure by transitioning from legacy analog lines to a cloud-based VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) system. This project will replace outdated hardware with a digital platform, ensuring our campus communication is more reliable, easier to manage, and ready for the future.

Why We’re Moving to VoIP
- Work from Anywhere: This transition provides faculty and staff with much-needed flexibility. Your office extension is no longer tied to a desk. Faculty and staff can take calls through a computer or mobile app, making it easy to stay connected with students and colleagues whether in a lab, a classroom, or working remotely.
- Enhanced Campus Safety: Beyond convenience, the new system enhances campus safety by providing precise location data to emergency responders (E911), identifying the specific building, floor, and room number during an emergency call.
- Efficiency & Savings: By utilizing our existing internet network, the university reduces long-term maintenance costs and allows departments to instantly add or move lines while eliminating the need for expensive, specialized phone wiring in campus buildings.
- Advanced Tools: Gain access to modern features like Voicemail-to-Email, integrated video conferencing, and the ability to instantly move or add lines as departments grow.
