Dr. Denise Charbonnet, Associate Professor and Department of Education Chair at Hampton University, began undergraduate studies at Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, with a concentration in Special Education. Dr. Charbonnet continued her education at the University of New Orleans where she earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education and a Ph.D. in Leadership and Foundations. Dr. Charbonnet has over 35 years of experience in PK-12 and post-secondary education. During her tenure in Pk-12, she was selected Principal of the Year for the state of Louisiana, the first woman and African-American to receive this award. Dr. Charbonnet remains focused on preparing and retaining effective teachers, administrators and educators for a global education environment.
