TRIO is a group of federally funded programs supported by the U.S. Department of Education that are designed to increase college access, retention, and graduation for individuals from low-income backgrounds and those who are first-generation college students. At Hampton University, TRIO programs provide academic support, counseling, mentoring, and college preparation services to help participants successfully navigate secondary and postsecondary education.
