From the Dean's Office

Dean's Message

On behalf of my colleagues and myself, I am thrilled to extend you a warm welcome to Hampton University, affectionately known as “Our Home By the Sea.”

It's with great excitement that I announce that the Hampton University School of Pharmacy (HUSOP) has achieved Pre-Candidate status from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), a crucial step towards our commitment to excellence in pharmacy education. This status not only reflects our dedication to the highest standards of quality and integrity but also allows us to welcome our inaugural class into the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program in the fall of 2024.

Our innovative curriculum is designed to develop essential competencies for producing practice-ready and team-oriented pharmacists. With over 24,000 sq.ft. of learning and research facilities, including the primary site at Kittrell Hall currently undergoing extensive renovations to be completed by July 2024, we are preparing state-of-the-art spaces for our students. These renovations will introduce technology-enhanced classrooms, clinical simulation labs, a mock pharmacy, collaborative learning areas, and spaces dedicated to students. Our faculty, a blend of clinicians and scientists across various specialties, are committed to excellence in education and innovative teaching. They, alongside our dedicated staff, are here to support our students’ journey to success.

The PharmD program is pivotal in realizing our vision to become a leader in pharmacy education, scientific innovation, and scholarship, preparing students to serve medically underserved and diverse populations effectively. We aim to offer programs that promote critical thinking, cultural humility, and evidence- and technology-based patient-centered care. Our graduates will be pivotal in improving the health outcomes of the communities they serve.

Pharmacy offers a fulfilling path for those interested in a healthcare career, and our program is meticulously crafted for the future. We are eager to share more about this exciting opportunity, and I invite you to explore our website and discover the diverse programs offered by the School of Pharmacy.
