By the year 2050, individuals with skin of color (including Africans, African Americans, Asians, Native Americans and Hispanics) will comprise more than half of the U.S. population. Currently, there is limited information on structural, functional, and clinical properties in skin of color-which hinders progress towards the development of effective therapies. The Hampton University Skin of Color Research Institute (HUSCRI) was established to address these knowledge gaps and to advance our understanding of skin diseases primarily affecting these patients population.
Mission
Our mission is to conduct research, build and disseminate knowledge and create educational forums in order to improve the understanding and treatment of skin disorders that uniquely affect people with skin of color.
