Health
The Hampton University Health Center provides acute care services by a physician or nurse practitioner during clinic hours. A current validated student I.D. and the completion of a student information form are required on each visit prior to receiving medical care. An initial health assessment is performed on all patients by a registered nurse. Patient education is provided for self-care of specific conditions, as well as for general health maintenance and promotion.

The Health Center is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. during the academic year and summer sessions.
If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room. (HU students who visit an emergency room or urgent care center are responsible for all costs incurred.)
Safety
The Hampton University Police Department is a professional, full-service organization providing all of the services normally performed by municipal police, plus many services unique to an academic institution. We provide 24-hour patrol, 365 days a year and employ twenty-eight sworn police officers, ten non-sworn security officers and eight members of the civilian support team.
Uniformed officers actively patrol the campus grounds and facilities on foot, by bicycle, and in police vehicles. All university police officers are fully trained as required by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.
