An initial health assessment is performed on all patients by a registered nurse. Patient education is provided for self-care of specific conditions, as well as for general health maintenance and promotion.

Safety

The Hampton University Police Department is a professional, full-service organization providing all of the services normally performed by municipal police, plus many services unique to an academic institution. We provide 24-hour patrol, 365 days a year and employ twenty-eight sworn police officers, ten non-sworn security officers and eight members of the civilian support team.

Uniformed officers actively patrol the campus grounds and facilities on foot, by bicycle, and in police vehicles. All university police officers are fully trained as required by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.
