International student services offices at Hampton University provide campus support and an abundance of campus resources to help with everything from visa issues and orientation to year-round activities.
“ISS usually stands for International Student Services, which indicates the office is for serving and supporting international students during their journey of studying in the United States. 

The office of international students and scholars making meaningful contributions to our campus. Therefore, it is essential when hosting an international scholar that departments consider institutional policy, U.S. regulations, and the long-term plans of the scholar. The international office is the University’s representative to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Department of State and Department of Labor in relation to the hiring and hosting of international scholars on campus.

Roles & Responsibilities

The International Office at Hampton University supports international students and scholars making meaningful contributions to our campus.  The key responsibility of the international office is hosting international students and scholars with focusing on considering institutional policy, U.S. regulations, and the long-term plans of students and  scholars. OISS is the University’s representative to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Department of State and Department of Labor in relation to the hiring and hosting of international scholars on campus.
The International Office at Hampton University has several key duties and responsibilities:

  1. International Student Support: Assisting international students with admissions, visa processes, and compliance with F-1 and J-1 visa regulations1.
  2. Global Education: Managing study abroad programs and facilitating international travel for students and faculty2.
  3. Cultural Integration: Promoting cultural exchange and collaboration between domestic and international students2.
  4. Risk Management: Developing and implementing safety protocols for international programs2.
  5. Compliance: Ensuring adherence to federal regulations related to international education
