This motto was coined by the Scripps Howard Foundation and has been the guiding inspiration of Hampton University’s Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications since its inception in 2002. Uniquely designed as a modern, symbolic lighthouse, the Scripps Howard School was built with a mission to produce ethical and competitive media and communication leaders equipped to practice with excellence, innovation and integrity in a multimedia world while adhering to the core principles of journalism and communications.

Scripps Howard School students have full-access to modernized amenities in the school, and highly-skilled and experienced professors. With professional backgrounds varying from The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, Inside Edition, Atlantic Records, MTV Networks, Cox Communications, CBS and PBS, each professor teaches classes of no more than 15 – 20 students, allowing each student personalized attention and the opportunity to establish valuable relationships.

Students in the Scripps Howard School are immersed in journalism and communications education and experience inside and outside of the classroom. They become skilled in Final Cut Pro, Adobe Suite software programs and digital radio operation.
