Dr. Yakisich is an interdisciplinary biomedical researcher (MD/PhD) with extensive experience in pharmacology, oncology, molecular and cellular biology fostered by a doctoral education at the Karolinska University Hospital, Karolinska Institute (Stockholm, Sweden) and postdoctoral training at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Medicine, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX. He was awarded a very competitive and prestigious research grant by the Swedish Research Council to work as project leader (independent researcher) at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience Karolinska Institute for four additional years. In 2014 Dr. Yakisich joined the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Hampton University where he is currently Assistant Professor.
