HUSOP STRATEGIC PLAN 2023-2033

PILLARS OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

OUR MISSION

We shall produce a cadre of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists who have a keen awareness and understanding of the health inequities encountered by underserved and vulnerable populations. We shall instill in our graduates, qualities that foster: critical thinking skills built upon applied and foundational knowledge; cultural humility; patient-centered care that is evidence-based and technology-driven; innovative research and scholarship; continued professional development, post-graduate education and life-long learning; and community education and advocacy through transformational leadership and service.

To be a leader in pharmacy education, scientific discovery, and scholarship that prepares graduates to address the healthcare needs of medically underserved and diverse populations.

The core values are also in alignment with HU’s the SACS-COC Quality Enhancement Plan(QEP) “Preserving our 3 Cs: Character, Community and Culture.” The “Respect” and “Professionalism” core values address the Culture component of the QEP while “Integrity” and “Community” support the Character and Community components respectively. These values align directly with the Hampton University Code of Conduct:

RESPECT:
We respect ourselves, humanity, feelings, ideas, worth, and values of others in a manner that will establish a culture of teamwork, interprofessional collaboration and trust.

PROFESSIONALISM: We uphold the academic standards of the pharmacy profession and produce culturally respectful, knowledgeable and empathetic graduates who are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of medically underserved populations.

INTEGRITY: We respect and protect the rights of marginalized persons, practice personal accountability, conduct ethical research and provide patient-centered care with the utmost integrity.

COMMUNITY: We support our surrounding populations by addressing community and public health concerns and by creating long-lasting equitable, academic-community partnerships.
