Hampton University Announces Julia Wilson New Dean of the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications

Hampton University, one of the nation’s leading Historically Black College & Universities, is pleased to announce the promotion of Wilson Global Communications founder and CEO Julia Wilson to Interim Dean of the university’s award-winning Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications. Wilson brings more than two decades of experience as an international public relations consultant and global marketing-communications pioneer. Her appointment begins immediately.

“ She has stepped into the new role with great energy and the drive to uphold THE Standard of Excellence by promoting learning, exercising the highest degree of journalistic integrity, the building of character, and preparing the next generation of media professionals. Her extensive knowledge will be invaluable to our students at Hampton University,” said Dr. William R. Harvey, Hampton University President.

Wilson joined the Scripps Howard faculty in the spring semester of 2021 and will continue teaching International Journalism and Communications in her new capacity.

The Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications is the result of more than 35 years of mass media-related instruction at Hampton University.
