Peer Health Educators

The mission of the Certified Peer Health Educator Program is to educate, support, and promote the balance of well-being at Hampton University while creating a safe space for any and all through the connection of peers. The purpose of Peer Health Educators is to:

  • Provide information about health, wellness, and prevention by directing students to campus resources.
  • Promote healthy norms while challenging unhealthy behaviors that may impact an individual, group, or community.
  • Bring awareness to high-risk behaviors and identify barriers prohibiting a healthy lifestyle.
  • Navigate peer-led conversations through a variety of issues essential to student well-being and success in college during dorm chats and campus events.
  • Serve as Health Center ambassadors to link students to care and decrease barriers to care.

Peer Health Educators are not authorized to diagnose or treat illnesses; however, they are well versed on campus resources regarding all aspects of student affairs and can provide a valuable network of support.
