Dr. David P. Taylor

Dr. David Taylor earned a doctorate in Criminal Justice with a focus in Behavioral Sciences from Nova Southeastern University, a Master of Arts in Applied Sociology from St. John’s University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Norfolk State University. His research interests include community policing, African American males and the criminal justice system, and gun violence in urban settings.

Throughout his professional career, Dr. Taylor has held various positions within and related to the criminal justice system. He served as an Assistant Director of a Victim Witness Program, Director of a Community Corrections Program, and provided psychotherapy counseling services to adolescent male sex offenders and urban African American males. In academia, Dr. Taylor has held positions ranging from adjunct instructor to assistant dean of instruction, and he has taught sociology and criminal justice courses at both the community college and university levels.

Dr. Taylor served fourteen years in the military and is a combat veteran. During his time in the United States Army, he served in the Persian Gulf War. In his spare time, Dr. Taylor enjoys traveling, reading about historical figures, staying physically active, and spending time with his family.
