Dr. Dymilah Hewitt is an Assistant Professor of Education at Hampton University. She began her career as a high school teacher in the San Francisco Unified School District. She has also taught in Las Vegas, Boston, Charlotte and Gabon, Africa. Her research focuses on the academic achievement of African American veterans, the evolution of their options in higher education and the shift in the type of institutions they have selected from World War II to the present. Dr. Hewitt is focused on helping all students, particularly those from low-income and first-generation backgrounds—achieve academic and career success.
