Amina Abdullah, PhD

Associate Professor

Biography

Dr. Abdullah is an Associate Professor within the Counseling department. She’s a former Department Chair for the Undergraduate Human Services Program. She received promotion to Associate Professor with Tenure as result of excelling in teaching, scholarship, and service. She holds a Ph.D. in Human Services and a Master’s in Management. She gained over 20 years of combined practical administrative and teaching experience in academia, healthcare, and health insurance. Her specialties include service leadership, counseling, service-learning, and case management. In addition, she performed program management and organized community service initiatives and service-learning experiences for students enrolled in the human services program.

Her teaching interests include organizing activities that allow students to engage in experiential learning outside of the classroom. In addition, she is a published author of several scholarly works, including articles featured in peer-reviewed journals and the series ” “Their Journey to the PhD“, a collection of books on Amazon featuring stories from women about their pursuit of earning a doctoral degree. Her other achievements involve presenting at domestic and international conferences as well as organizing global service-learning projects for faculty and students. She is committed to mentoring, advocating for, and empowering young women. She was featured on the BET Network for Black History month as a Capella Successful Alumni.
