Biography

Mr. Francis Osei, M.Sc., M.H.A.(C), and Ph.D. Candidate in Clinical Exercise Science is an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology in the Department of Sports Science and Wellness at Hampton University. His academic research examines the effects of physical activity on physical and psychological health outcomes.

Mr. Osei’s research explores the relationships among stress, obesity, depression, cardiometabolic health, and cardiovascular function, with an emphasis on evidence-based exercise interventions. His work informs strategies for disease prevention and enhances quality of life at both individual and population levels. His scholarship contributes to exercise science, psychobiology, and global health, and has been published in peer-reviewed international journals including Global Health Action, Frontiers in Endocrinology, Depression and Anxiety, and PLOS Global Public Health. Through collaborative research, he examines youth fitness, physiological responses to stress, and the impact of lifestyle behaviors on health and athletic performance, highlighting the public health relevance and practical implications of his findings.

At Hampton University, Mr. Osei teaches Health Education, Health Promotion, and Independent Study and Research. He employs research-based instruction to foster analytical approaches to real-world health challenges.

Mr. Osei’s teaching philosophy emphasizes that “education should inspire not only intellectual development, but also self-awareness and balance.”
