Dr. Caskie’s research primarily studies the representation of American tourism within popular American media. In particular, he focuses on the Hollywood blockbuster and the way it negotiates nationalism, ethnicity, and cosmopolitanism in a complex relationship with global business practice. Outside of tourism, Dr. Caskie also studies the convention of film subtitles, practices in critical game design, and the production of digital environments within virtual reality simulations. He has forthcoming publications in the New Review of Film and Television and the Journal of Popular Culture.
