HEALTH SCIENCES

The Hampton University School of Nursing offers the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences at its main campus in two concentrations: Community Health Promotions, an Policy and Administration. The program allows students to gain educational experiences which develop understanding of their discipline and emphasizes interprofessional collaborative healthcare practices.  Students are provided the background and experiences needed for successful entry into practice and or graduate education.

Community Health Promotion

Program Objectives

  1. Utilize parametric and non-parametric statistics to describe a research problem.
  2. Critically analyze human health issues and propose practical solutions to these issues.
  3. Describe the overall U.S. Health profile to include major concepts such as indicators, social determinants, disparities, access to health services, historical and contemporary trends and implications.
  4. Understand how social, cultural, economic, political, and biological environments affect both personal and community health.
  5. Complete a practicum and capstone experience.

Policy and Administration

Program Objectives

  1. Utilize parametric and non-parametric statistics to describe a research problem.
  2. Critically analyze human health issues and propose practical solutions to these issues.
  3. Understanding basic management styles, principles and theories.
  4. Implement principles and practices of human resource administration (i.e. employee recruitment, selection, placement, training, performance evaluation, compensation, benefits, labor relations, safety, and health).
  5. Complete a practicum and capstone experience.
