Alberta Williams King

Alberta Williams King was the mother of the iconic civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Her unwavering support and deep faith played a significant role in shaping her son’s life and work. Alberta Williams King was also a dedicated musician. She founded the Ebenezer Baptist Church Choir in Atlanta, Georgia, where both her son and husband, Martin Luther King, Sr., served as co-pastors.  Her work as an organist and as director at Ebenezer is considered to have contributed deeply to the respect her son had for music.
