Percy Sutton was a pioneering entrepreneur and civil rights activist. He co-founded Inner City Broadcasting Corporation, which became the largest Black-owned media company in the United States. He was a lawyer, a civil rights activist, and a Freedom Rider, and he even served as the legal representative for Malcolm X. Sutton also held the highest-ranking African-American elected office in New York City as the Manhattan borough president from 1966 to 1977.
