Ruth E. Carter is a celebrated and two-time Academy Award-winning costume designer for film and television who has designed costumes for numerous iconic films, including Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X, Amistad, Selma, Black Panther, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Her groundbreaking work in Black Panther made her the first African American to win an Academy Award for Costume Design and the first Black woman to win multiple Academy Awards in any category.
