The Wall Street Journal Newsroom Internships

Deadline: October 27, 2024

The Wall Street Journal internship program is an opportunity primarily for college juniors to work in award-winning newsrooms in either New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Washington D.C. Seniors and graduate students enrolled in a degree program by the application deadline – Sunday, October 27 – are also eligible to apply.

WSJ is seeking self-starters who understand the needs of their audience across multiple platforms and are able to work independently under deadline pressure. Dedication to high journalism standards and excellent writing and reporting skills are required.

You don’t need to be an expert in business or finance to apply, but you do need to be curious and eager to learn. You should have completed at least one prior reporting internship with another professional media organization or published exceptional work with a campus news outlet or as a freelancer.

The paid internship program offers practical work experience and mentorship, plus a robust orientation and tailored training sessions. Interns are encouraged to pitch their own stories and projects and follow them through to completion with supervision and guidance from an editor.

Application links can be found at WSJ.jobs. To learn more about the internship program, visit medium.com/wsj-internships and review the FAQs.

2025 Boston Globe Newsroom Summer Internship Program

Deadline: November 1, 2024

The Boston Globe summer internship program began more than 60 years ago as an opportunity for college students interested in journalism to gain practical experience at a major news organization.

The largest group of interns works in the News department as general assignment reporters. Other intern reporters will be hired for the Express Desk (breaking Metro and Regional news), Business, Sports, and Living/Arts departments. We also have intern positions in the Photography, Video, and Design departments, and on the News copy desk (nights). Internships are NOT limited to students with journalism or communication majors.

Summer interns work as full-time employees for 12 weeks. Interns are paid a weekly wage and work-shifts vary. There is a writing coach for the reporting interns, and discussions with editors and staff on a range of journalism topics for all of the interns.
