Accreditation Statement
The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Educational Management and the M.A. in Administration and Supervision programs are offered online through Hampton University Online, the Graduate College, and the Department of Education within the School of Liberal Arts and Education. Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and approved by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV), the program is designed to develop advanced leadership skills for professionals working in today’s complex, diverse, and information-driven educational environments. Structured as an executive-format program, it allows candidates to pursue doctoral study without interrupting their careers. Preferred applicants will have five or more years of professional experience in an educational setting, with demonstrated leadership experience receiving the strongest consideration. For those pursuing the PK–12 concentration, teacher or administrator licensure or other educational certification is preferred. Applicants interested in the higher education concentration should have leadership experience in postsecondary education institutions.

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Administration and Supervision leads to licensure and certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Educational Management does not lead to licensure or certification, as additional state-specific requirements may apply.

Program Accreditation and Disclosure Statement
Hampton University’s Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Counselor Education and Supervision and Specialist in Education (EdS) in Counseling and Human Services programs are fully approved by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
The Master of Arts in School Counseling, Community Mental Health and Student Affairs/ College Development are accredited by CACREP (Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs). Additionally, the MA in School Counseling program is also accredited by CAEP (Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation) and approved by the VDOE (Virginia Department of Education).
Both programs are housed within the Department of Counseling in the School of Liberal Arts and Education.
These graduate programs meet the academic requirements for licensure eligibility. However, completion of the program does not guarantee licensure or certification, as additional state-specific requirements may apply.
