Study Abroad Opportunities Page

Aligned with the charge and support from the Hampton University Administration to promote study abroad and international service learning (ISL) opportunities for All students, the Counseling Department advocates that ISL opportunities for graduate students greatly enhance their leadership skills, career development outlooks, and levels of civic engagement.  Our graduate students are actively encouraged to participate in Study Abroad opportunities through both the Study Abroad Unit and the School of Liberal Arts and Education at Hampton University. The Department of Counseling believes that collaborative opportunities with undergraduate and graduate students promotes a uniquely innovative learning and service environment.

Counseling Department establishes new partnership with 3GC Inc. (www.weare3gc.org) a non profit organization that “seeks to promote service learning partnerships between Africa and the Diaspora”.  Counseling Department students will travel to Ghana in Summer 2019 to pilot partnership to kick off annual Spring Break and Summer trips focused upon Counseling International Service Learning projects in Ghanaian communities and a symposium at the University of Ghana with their Department of Psychology on Global Mental Health through African centered perspectives.
