  • Debate Watch Party – The Department hosted a Debate Watch Party for the Third Democratic Primary Presidential debate on September 12, 2019 DuBois Hall, with Dr. Davis and Dr. Gregory providing commentary thereafter.
  • To mark US Constitution Day, celebrated on Thursday, September 17, 2020, Dr. Davis delivered a lecture titled “A Covenant with Death” at the Library Meeting Room at Harvey Library, from 1-2 p.m.
  • HU Model UN Simulation at ODU – Nineteen Hampton University Model United Nations participated in the 2019 annual ODU Day, featuring simulations of United Nations activities, on invitation from Old Dominion University.
  • Activism: Combatting childhood hunger – Zhane Austin was awarded a $3,000 scholarship that comes together with a $3,125 grant, as a collaboration between the Tom Joyner Foundation and Denny’s, to implement a program to combat childhood hunger. Ms. Austin, a junior, Political Science major, plans to utilize the money to provide nutritious food alternatives for students during the month of November 2019.
  • COX State Department Diplomacy Seminar – Two students, Ms. Lawanda Walker and Ms. Alexis Walker were awarded scholarships to participate in the Cox-State Department Diplomacy Seminar in Washington DC, October 2-5, 2019. Ms. Tania Harris, now a junior International Relations major, was a 2018 recipient of the Cox State Department Diplomacy Fellowship.
  • World Quest 2019 – On Thursday, November 21, 2019, HU Model UN students participated in the Hampton Roads World Affairs Council‘s annual WorldQuest competition at the DoubleTree by Hilton Norfolk Airport.
  • MonarchMUN – From 22 November 2019 to 24 November 2019, Hampton University Model United Nations Society (HUMUNS) members participated in the inaugural Old Dominion University Monarch Model UN Conference as one of the tens of delegations deliberating important global issues
