Student Organizations

The Department of Social Sciences recognizes outstanding academic achievements of students majoring in Sociology and Criminal Justice. Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Sociology Honor Society and Alpha Phi Sigma, the National Criminal Justice Honor Society, are the two honor societies available to students that demonstrates academic success.

Induction into Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) is a prestigious honor for sociology students. The goal and purpose of AKD is to promote the study of social issues, serve mankind through community involvement, and enhance academic and professional development.

Alpha Phi Sigma is the only National Criminal Justice Honor Society for students interested in criminal justice and criminology. The Gamma Tau Chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma at Hampton University recognizes the academic excellence of undergraduate students in Criminal justice, Criminology, and Law.

The Sociology Club is designed to facilitate an environment for academic and professional development along with community involvement. The student club serves to develop civic-minded leaders that seeks to enhance personal leadership skills. Students are encouraged to collaborate with campus and community leaders to eradicate inequality experienced by members of underserved communities.
