SESSION TITLE: Bridging the in the Arts: From Hampton to Yale
Dr. Albert R. Lee is Associate Professor of Music and Associate Dean for Student Life and Community Engagement at the Yale School of Music. He has made a career as a classical vocalist in opera, oratorio, recital, and liturgical musichaving appeared with Opera Theater of Saint Louis, Palm Beach Opera, Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, London Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Saint Luke’s Chamber Orchestra, the Collegiate Chorale of New York City, Caramoor International Music Festival, the Aspen Music Festival and the London Symphony. He was recently a featured artist on Apple Music’s play list “The Classical Voice” performing a selection from the recent compendium released A Breath of Air singing settings of Langston Hughes and Walt Whitman poems by composer Monica Houghton. Having completed the Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of Connecticut, the Master of Music at The Juilliard School, and the Doctor of Music degree at Florida State University, Dr. Lee draws inspiration from the literary works of Langston Hughes as well as his unique artistic, spiritual, and personal journey from childhood to his current life as a performer and scholar.
