Hampton, Va. (Nov. 21, 2023) – Earlier this year PepsiCo announced the inaugural “Pepsi x Mary J. Blige Strength of a Woman Scholarship” named after Mary J. Blige’s festival and summit of the same name, as part of a shared mission to celebrate and advocate for Black women.
On Tuesday, November 28, Mary J. Blige will be on-campus alongside PepsiCo’s Kent Montgomery, Senior Vice President, Industry Relations and Multicultural Development, to present the scholarship to a Hampton University female student.
Totaling $60,000 to be unlocked over two years, the scholarship covers costs for half of the student’s undergraduate education, with this year’s $30,000 reward eligible to be automatically renewed the following year, pending maintenance of academic standing.
The scholarship is part of PepsiCo’s ongoing support of HBCUs, building on this year’s HBCU tour that includes recruitment efforts and $250,000 in donations to fight campus food insecurity, and more.
