Hampton, Va. (December 6, 2023) –Hampton University is proud to announce, in a landmark achievement, students from the Hampton University School of Business secured the coveted first place in the inaugural Society for Financial Education and Professional Development’s Inaugural HBCU Financial Literacy Bowl.
The competition, a pioneering initiative aimed at promoting financial literacy among Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) students, saw exceptional participation from institutions across the nation.
The victorious team from Hampton University demonstrated exceptional prowess in financial acumen, critical thinking, and problem-solving throughout the rigorous competition.
“The [School of Business] students’ dedication to mastering financial literacy concepts and strategies set them apart, showcasing the outstanding academic caliber of Hampton’s School of Business,” said Dr. Sylvia Rose, assistant dean, School of Business. “The HBCU Financial Literacy Bowl, organized by the Society for Financial Education and Professional Development, represents a crucial step towards fostering financial education within minority communities.”
Dr. Rose, the team’s faculty advisor, expressed pride in the students’ accomplishments, emphasizing the significance of financial education in empowering future generations. “This recognition highlights our commitment to academic excellence and also positions the University as a leader in promoting financial literacy,” said Rose.
