Official Statement: Hampton University Addresses Ongoing Challenges During Winter Weather

Dear Hampton Community,

We are aware of concerns over recent campus heating, power, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The safety and wellbeing of our students, faculty, and staff remain our highest priority.

Extreme weather conditions, combined with the age and complexity of certain campus systems, have placed added strain on all elements of our infrastructure. We acknowledge the disruption this has caused and its impact on operations, and we are addressing concerns as they arise.

As teams continue repairs and system stabilization, we will provide updates through the Pirate Notification System, our University website, and social media.

The University is also taking a long-term approach to preventing similar concerns in the future. Over the past three years, Hampton has invested in infrastructure improvements across more than 20 academic buildings and residence halls as part of a comprehensive strategy to address deferred maintenance and modernize campus systems. Additional upgrades are underway to strengthen system reliability.

We appreciate your patience as we move forward together. We hear you; your voices matter, and we remain committed to providing a safe, supportive environment for our Hampton community.
