HU Appoints New Assistant Provost Dr. Leroy Hamilton, Jr.

Hampton, Va. (December 8, 2023) – Hampton University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Leroy Hamilton, Jr. as the new assistant provost.

In this pivotal role, Dr. Hamilton will contribute his wealth of experience and expertise to further elevate the academic excellence for which Hampton University is renowned.

Dr. Hamilton brings an impressive background in higher education, having demonstrated leadership and commitment to advancing higher education throughout his distinguished career. His passion for student achievement, faculty and community development and boosting student enrollment and retention aligns seamlessly with Hampton University’s vision for the future.

As the assistant provost for Academic Affairs, Dr. Hamilton will facilitate academic integrity, planning, faculty affairs, and academic leadership matters. He will ensure that undergraduate and graduate programs’ quality complies with national, regional, and state accreditation standards by facilitating academic program review exercises and elevating signature programs within the academic enterprise. Dr. Hamilton will serve as the SACSCOC Institutional Liaison for administrators, faculty, and other constituents of the University.
