Hampton University President Commissions Charles L. Cansler as New Senior Vice President of Business Operations and Finance

Cansler’s Appointment Positions the University to Drive Change with World-class Performance Standards

Hampton, Va. (July 26, 2023) –   Hampton University President Darrell K. Williams announced the appointment of Charles L. Cansler to the position of Senior Vice President for Business Operations and Finance, where he will lead ongoing investments in the university’s physical and technological infrastructure to enhance the academic and social experience of students, faculty and staff.

Cansler totes 30 years of executive leadership, accounting, and consulting. He recently served as vice president for finance and business at The Citadel, complementing an admirable history of strengthening universities as Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration at the University of Arkansas Little Rock, and Controller for North Carolina State University.

Before joining senior staff at The Citadel, Cansler made waves as the higher education expert and sales consultant/manager for Oracle, Inc., one of the largest vendors in the enterprise information technology (IT) market. 

He received a Master of Business Administration from Baylor University, a Bachelor of Science in Management from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a post-baccalaureate of Accounting and Graduate Taxation from Georgia State University.
