Chairman's Message
Welcome to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Hampton University. We are building on a long-established tradition of training multidisciplinary graduates with rigorous and applicable skills to compete for direct entry into the workforce as well as graduate and professional programs.
Within our department, we have didactic and research training in many areas including: biochemistry, inorganic chemistry, material science, bioinformatics, molecular biology, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry and toxicology.
We emphasize hands-on learning and developing competencies in 21st-century skill sets through participation in research internships. We have training programs in Forensic Chemistry, traditional Chemistry, and Biochemistry, which offer rigorous course work at the graduate and undergraduate level.
Our graduates have gone on to medical school, pharmacy school, business school, and multidisciplinary masters and doctorate programs, etc. Our faculty members have diverse expertise in chemistry and allied sciences. The department has a low student to faculty ratio that allows us to guide each trainee towards optimizing their potential in their chosen path.
