Mr. Michael D. Druitt a native of Williamsburg, Virginia graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Longwood University (Longwood College) located in Farmville, VA.  He earned the Master of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Hampton University located in Hampton, VA, while studying the Effects of Lead Neurotoxicity in Rana catesbeiana (African-clawed Frog).   

He began his career in education in 1996, in the Edgecombe County Schools District of North Carolina where he served as Head Science Teacher at Bridger’s High School in Tarboro, NC.  Migrating north to New Jersey, Mr. Druitt served as Earth Science Teacher and Head JV Basketball Coach at Hillside High School in Hillside, New Jersey. Returning home to his roots, he joined the Newport News Public Schools System to serve as Earth Science Teacher at Denbigh High School.  He also served as Head Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Coach and Head Junior Varsity Baseball Coach.      

He joined the Hampton University School of Science in 2001, serving as Instructor in the Department of Biological Sciences.  Mr. Druitt has been a Visiting Scholar at the University of Virginia’s School of Public Health and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.   He has served in the capacity of Assistant to the Dean; he was the former Medical Science / Pre-Health Coordinator, former Co-Principal Investigator of a National Institutes of Health sponsored grant and former Principal Investigator of a National Science Foundation sponsored grant. Currently, he serves as Assistant Professor for introductory courses taken by science majors and non-science majors.  

Mr. Druitt is the founder of the annual Pre-Health White Coat Induction Ceremony in 2007 and is a member of Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Honor Society. He has been featured in national journals, such as Diverse Issues in Higher Education in 2019 for his service in helping students achieve success. Mr. Druitt is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Zeta Alpha Alpha Chapter, Farmville, VA and a charter member of the Zeta Mu Mu Chapter, Williamsburg, VA. He currently serves as Audio-Visual Technician for the Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church located in Williamsburg, Virginia.
