Graduate Program

The Hampton University Department of Mathematics offers graduate courses leading to the Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics

The graduate program in Applied Mathematics prepares the successful candidate to pursue a Ph.D. program or assume immediate employment in business, industry or government. To meet these goals, the program is designed to provide opportunities for advanced study and research on the application of mathematical methods to real-world problems. The primary research interest of the graduate faculty include: applications of nonlinear dynamics, big data, calculus of variations, data science, Hypercomplex / Clifford analysis, machine learning, reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces, spectral theory of time periodic nonlocal dispersal operators and applications, statistical analysis with missing data, theory of differential equations with periodic coefficients, and thermonuclear fusion.
